Hardwood
What does hardwood offer?
Hardwood has been a homeowners favorite for years. Reason? It has a large range of uniquely natural variations—anywhere from boards with extreme character, graining, and color variation to those that are evenly colored and consistent. Hardwood can bring a room together and give it the character it needs. It shapes the room.
Why choose hardwood?
Hardwood has three winning points. Color, character, and construction are the main factors to consider when deciding on hardwood.
Color: Whether you’re in search for something more settling and contemporary or wanting to go more traditional—hardwood has you covered. The wide range of light and settle to intensely dark and deep wood allows your imagination to go wild. Choosing the right shade depends on essentially a matter of your home design preference.
Character: Naturally present in hardwood, grain variations help determine a wood’s “personality.” Dramatic grain suggests a rustic feeling. Versus the moderate grain variations which are associated with the traditional. But if you’re looking for a sleek and contemporary look there is a hardwood with very little graining that can you achieve the design.
Construction: To keep things simple—there are two basic choices. Solid or engineered. Solid planks are created from a single piece of wood and make a handsome floor that lasts for years. Engineered planks are made from several layers of wood (with a core of plywood or HDF) and are designed to withstand higher levels of humidity. Which means they are able to go in rooms solid floors can’t. Note that there are many differences in finishes. Such as gloss or luster level, scraping degree and technique, wire-brushing, etc. Ask our sales staff to show you samples to understand the difference in person and hands on.
